Type-X Barge
Local Name:
Type-X Barge
Depth:
Depth is approximately 120-130 feet.
Anchoring:
Anchoring on this one is a bit tricky. This is best left for calm weather. The bottom is fairly sandy and the wreck has few features to snag an anchor on. One of the most notable features of this wreck is the dolphin that sunk with the wreck and has come to rest on top. There is a tangle of cables between the bow and the dolphin that you might get lucky and snag. Again, best leave this one for a calm day in case you can't get a good anchor.

Notes:
Locally this has been known as a water barge. While it may very well have been used to haul water to Kwajalein during the war, I believe that this is actually a Type-X fuel barge. As I mentioned above, it appears that this barge was moored to a dolphin and the two sank together. These is a large gash on the side of the dolphin. Overall, the wreck is fairly boring, but one of those things to check off!
